THE SIGNALMAN – ACID FOLK IMAGERY
A NEW ALIAS FROM STONECIRCLESAMPLER TWO HOURS OF DISMAL 1970s HAUNTOLOGICAL AMBIENT DRIFT
Emerging from the analogue murk, The Signalman — the new spectral moniker of Stonecirclesampler — debuts with Acid Folk Imagery, a two-hour transmission from a Britain that never quite was. Dusty classrooms heavy with condensation, overgrown allotments fenced in by rust, and the cold dreams of forgotten Open University idents form the backdrop to this long-form ambient ritual.
Spooling out across two hours, the album is built from weathered tape loops, detuned synths, and the residue of vanished folk traditions. It dreams like an abandoned power station and flickers like a 16mm reel left running in an empty village hall. Pirate radio static collides with archive broadcasts; voices half-heard, instructions never finished.
Acid Folk Imagery doesn’t remember the past — it dreams its absence. These are broadcasts from nowhere: folk melodies drowned in concrete, pagan fragments scattered across the shortwave spectrum, and forgotten futures glimpsed through sodium haze.
Do not adjust your set. In the past The Signalman is interfering with the present.
