SCALD - Asphyxia EP
London-based, darky beautiful experimental and audiovisual outfit SCALD surfaces with a release on the illustrious Industrial Coast label.
Originally a 12 minute cinematic audiovisual piece with sublime strings and immense noise blasts, Asphyxia took shape over the lockdown during a time of societal chaos and lived dystopia; rather than seek balance to the anxiety, the decision was made to go even deeper into the isolation and tension, using 3D scanned masks, analog and digital audio tools to create a virtual, haunted and broken world where LED screens flicker in the dark of a disused warehouse, and ghosts hang judgingly from the walls
or trapped on the floor.
The result is an unexpectedly elegant, detailed yet sonically brutal audiovisual piece where beautiful stringwork and anguished vocals permeate a structure of hyperexplosive impacts and gigantic
sub bass hums.
The release is comprised of 4 audio tracks, with dancefloor-ish remixes from UKAEA, Waterflower and fully glitched-out mayhem by Slave To Society.
- Asphyxia (Lockdown) - feat. SWARMM, The Seer
- Asphyxia (Breakout) - feat. Waterflower
- Asphyxia (UKAEA remix)
- Asphyxia (Slave2Society remix)
Pre-Order. Full release 16 March. Full digital (Bandcamp DL code) issued 16 March along with cassette shipment.
The EP will be launched at London's Metamorphika Studio this 20th March, with a 6-way improvisational jam by all the EP artists and additional performances by Trojanowsky and Laboranta.
