Part of many heavier bands (Cloud Nothings, Disintegration), Chris Brown’s solo work over the last two years has taken the somewhat unexpected move towards beautifully minimal piano on releases like 2020’s A Bird in the Room or his 2021 collaboration with ambient synthesist Dominic Coppola. Telepathic Daydream goes in yet another different and unpredictable direction with deep synth zones funneled directly from the Berlin School into the present day water supplies. Dark and looming clouds slowly pass into more pastoral stretches of deep space stillness, all of it beautiful and as lucid as the tape’s title would suggest.
